Our paper systematically mapping inputs to different VTA cell types came out today in Cell Reports! We found that cell types defined by neurochemical phenotype (e.g., Cre line) had no impact on the global inputs those cells received, but the output site of the VTA cells did influence input patterns though spatial localization of those cells in the VTA.
